Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 (February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a small community that lies on the part of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. A lot of people who aren't aware of the name mistakenly believe that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is the West Island includes everything westward from Montreal, including the town of Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island, although this is not true. Brugel was born in Courtice in the vicinity of Oshawa Ontario. She had a dream to become professional, however due to her rapid growth spurt she outgrew all of her dancing partners. In an article written by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. As soon as I was able to outgrow male friends, I stopped. Dancers who have been in the past often switch into acting which is what Brugel did. An instructor in drama at her high school pushed to Brugel into the direction she wanted to go in. It was suggested that she audition for a part in her school's production. The student tried it out, and eventually got the character of Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program and graduated on the 20th of January, 2000. She graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. Over the past 20 years the career of Brugel has seen her appearing in a variety of movies and TV productions. Her most notable role was that of Rita (shown beneath) in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast for Season 1 of the series and rarely seen.
